I searched for my wife a bike and everywhere I went, the price was way more than what I wanted to pay. I wanted a bike that was well constructed, lite, and has high rated parts on it. I found this bike and I compared the price with a comparable bike at a bike shop and it was nearly $100 cheaper, plus free shipping. After we received the bike, we were very satisfied of the product except for the seat, but you can purchase a nice gel seat for around $15. Great deal!

When the bike arrived it looked very nice and seemed to be a good purchase. After a few weeks its quality deteriorated significantly.
Now it’s almost a year since my wife started using it and it is half rusted. I spoke to customer support of Amazon, and they told me they can do nothing after 30 days. If you are looking for a product that will last more than a year this is for sure not a good choice.

If you are considering buying the Kent Dual Drive Tandem, I would recommend it conditionally based upon your skills and capabilities. It is just what it is advertised as – a very inexpensive low end bicycle. That said, after properly assembled, it can provide years of fun.

I should preface this review by saying I am a bicycle mechanic and run a small bicycle restoration business out of my home. So, I have assess to the necessary tools and materials needed to properly assemble the bicycle. The bicycle comes boxed up as you would expect from the manufacturer. The front wheel, pedals, handle bars and stems, seat posts and saddles all need to be installed. That in and of itself is not very difficult and any “normal” intelligent and handy person can accomplish it in an hour or so. However, there is a lot more to it than just that.

The Kent is mass-produced in China and is not inspected before shipping. Also, all new bicycles, whether they cost $100.000 or $10,000.00 need to be set up. The Kent is no exception. As already pointed out by other reviewers, there is NO lubrication on the bicycle. Also, the hub cones are tightened so tight that the wheels barely turn. You must loosen the lock nut and adjust the cones. But, before you do that, I would seriously recommend removing the cones completely and applying the proper amount of grease before tightening them up again. Chances are you could lose some bearings so make sure you have extra. The same is true of the headset – no grease.

You must also grease all posts and peddles before inserting them into the frame. And the biggest issue for people not equipped to do so, is to true both wheels. The wheels are not very round and must be properly trued before riding. In my case the front wheel had to be put into a truing stand a worked on for a while (after I had rebuilt the hub).

At the end of the day, when I was completely finished, the bicycle is great. The shape of the frame is such that my eight-year-old daughter can reach the pedals with the saddle all the way down. Also, both the front and the rear saddle height is adjusted by loosening the clamps with user supplied hex wrenches. I would recommend buying a quick- release seat post clamp. You need a 28.6mm diameter model. I would also recommend replacing the very low end 45lbs max 26 x 2.0 tires with some narrower and higher capacity ones.

It took me about two and a half hours with all the proper tools to completely assemble the bicycle. For most people, I would seriously recommend talking the bicycle to a local shop and paying them the $100.00 – $150.00 for assembling it. When you are done you will have a great bicycle. Most half-way descent tandems start around $1000.00. No, the Kent is not the equivalent of a $6,000.00 Santana road tandem – and it wasn’t meant to compete with bicycles like that. It is a low end department store bicycle. But, if assembled correctly, it is perfect for many people, my self included. It tips the scales at about 55 lbs. and is made of hi-tensile steel and cromoly steel. I added fenders and a rear rack, plus extra water bottle holders, mirrors and a few other accessories. It’s about 65 lbs now, so I won’t be doing any cross-county trips. However for riding around the neighborhood, or even a 50 mile weekend ride, it’s perfect.

i really like this bike but the seat is a little to high for me. if i could i would give it a 4.6 out of 5 i try lowering it to the lowest but still feels weird at the starting point but when i start riding its nice. its really simple i like it. it came with a tail light thing. its super light and the handles feel confortable. you need get the tools for it tho. the hardest part was taking the bike out of the box~!. Where do I begin? This Go-Ped scooter is certainly the worst product I have ever purchased in the over $500 price bracket in my life. I am a 47 year old father, bought it for my 14 year old son’s birthday, it lasted 10-12 minutes, broke in the worst way and has been in the shop for over a month now waiting on parts which I will have to pay for plus the labor. The clutch broke first but when our local motorcycle shop was going through it they noticed the spark plug ceramic was cracked also. Basically, my shops manager said ALL scooters are junk and Go-Ped is worse than most and I would have been better off buying any number of scooters at half the price of these Chinese made pieces of garbage (oh yes, they are made in China even though they claim they are made in America). Bottom line, I thought I did my research, I thought this must be the best one on the market, but trust me, it is wasted money and has hurt my reputation with my son (at least temporarily). That said, I am buying him a dirt bike for Christmas. Do not buy this or any Go-Ped product, you will be disappointed I promise you! Oh yes, the packaging was terrible, just thrown in the box, the scooter had several blemishes on it in many places. Just the worst quality on every level! And by the way, don’t expect Go-Ped to stand by you, they won’t, in fact, they won’t even return my calls and Amazon, well, they should be ashamed selling such crap – they won’t stand behind me either.

I have purchased two of these scooters for my son. On the first one, one of the bolts securing the brake mechanism sheared off after about 6 months and a spring fell off. Razor does not carry any replacement parts for this scooter, so it could not be repaired. I thought perhaps it was just a lemon, so I purchased a second Razor Carvr. The same thing happened to this one, again after about 6 months.

If having a brake or being able to repair this scooter if anything happens to the brake or rear wheels is important to you, do not buy.

This scooter is only good on flat surfaces for a few blocks and back, at most. Really loses power on hills and when there are hills between your origination point and your destination covering more than a few blocks, you are likely to become stranded. There are two large heavy batteries connected under the cheap feeling foot board and so adding any further weight to the scooter, like extra pre-charged batteries, is not really an option. You cannot carry an extra set of batteries with you because the scooter cannot handle the weight it already has on hills, much less two extra heavy batteries. So, when the scooter goes out, you have to walk it home. There is no way to have a back-up set up of batteries with you.

I will say Amazon provided absolutely outstanding service and they made me a believer in their customer satisfaction guarantee. They have a lifelong customer over the way they handled my dissatisfaction with this product. Amazon is not to blame for the low usage capability of this product.

Again, if you live in a well-paved, relatively flat area and only want to go a few blocks to and from your home or origination point, this scooter would be fine. If you want more out of it than that, save your bucks and buy something with more power and long range capability. Please notice this scooter should not be driven in rain or on muddy surfaces.

I purchased this Trikke for my wife’s birthday. She loves to snow ski and this scooter movement uses a lot of the same motion. We live in a condo so the folding feature is really good. She is using the Trikke to help her with low impact exercise. She rides it mostly on the tennis courts surfaces at the condo but we really want to upgrade to the rear air tires as the ride is very bumpy on the blacktop parking lot. Overall momma is very happy so a happy momma means happy family. :)
