I purchased two 16gb tablets from a local retailer yesterday. First let me say this tablet is not perfect but I am am very pleased. It is like having a large smart phone. I love my smart phone! My husband was able to get most of his apps installed, but some of mine are not available for the tablet yet. I am able to use my cloud service and access several of my paid apps (spreadsheets, word docs, etc). The widgets & apps that are missing from the market are not an issue because I can access these items online (banking, personal finance site). I am optimistic that the android community will remedy this eventually. I am a techie and I love it.

The interface is flawless & smooth, saved photos look really good (even when zoomed in), wireless connection excellent (no connection issues). So far my battery life has been 6hrs; but let me say I did not turn off wireless or Bluetooth. My screen brightness was on maximum. I played Need for Speed briefly, surfed the web alot (3-4 hours), downloaded apps and files, looked at several youtube videos. I think the speaker quality is good; picture quality OK; used tango and talked to hubby while he was at work.

Remember this tablet is thicker than the Ipad 2, Samsung, etc; some may experience fatigue from holding it long periods of time. I typed this entire review on the keyboard. I like it and unless something really bad happens in the next 13 days I plan to keep it.

07/19/11 UPDATED REVIEW — Well I decide to update my review. (I was able to purchase the tablets early at Fry’s on 07/05/11) I had the sleep issue and called Toshiba the first time on 07/07/11. While they were nice there was no resolution given. So I exchanged by tablet at Fry’s on 07/08/11. Then my husband’s tablet had the issue. I decided to be patient and started surfing the internet to see if anyone else was having the problem. Slowly, I saw more postings about this problem. My new tablet was starting to have a sleep issue too and rebooting by itself. I called Toshiba again on 07/13/11 and the rep told me that he had never heard of that problem before. By 07/15/11 it was on Toshiba’s thrive forums and the internet extensively. I even looked to see if it was an Android issue that plagued other tablets. My 14 days to return the tablets for a refund were quickly approaching and I was hoping that Toshiba sent an update or that some of the fixes would work. While I realize any technology can have hiccups I felt that I needed to decide what to do. I did not want to be stuck with a problematic tablet. I returned both tablets last weekend.

I been checking the internet and I am glad to see that Toshiba finally realizes they need to fix this issue. I am surprise that it never showed up in testing. I hope it is a software issue and not a hardware issue because I am sure some of you have met your return time limits. I still think the tablet has some really nice features and I hope they work them out. I decided to buy the Xoom- no surprises.

I’ve had this tablet for about five days now and just love it. I got interested in a tablet when Amazon announced the Kindle Fire. I was one of the first to preorder the Fire, but then started looking at all the things the Fire doesn’t do, and rethought the decision. I looked around a bit and found this Acer. I have had no problems at all with it. I’ve downloaded a lot of apps, some good and some not so good but the not so good ones are easily gotten rid of. As per a lot of other reviews it is fast and easy to understand. The Kindle app works great now. I put a lot of music on an 8 gb card and it works well, with external speakers and ear buds. The music was easy once I finally figured it out. I used my I Tunes program, set up a playlist and loaded it onto the card, which the tablet read just fine. One thing I’ve been very happy with that no one else has mentioned in reviews is the voice recognition. It is great, very accurate. The one downside is that you have to be on wi fi for it to work. One thing I have a question about is the navigation. It still works when you get out of wi fi range but you get a banner that says it is looking for driving directions. I haven’t figured yet how to get that off the screen. If anyone knows I would appreciate you replying to this review.

Two week update: Still love it. Camera and camcorder work very well. Took it on a trip and got some great video. I finally gave up on the GPS app installed on the Acer and bought Copilot ($2.99) and really like it, works great. The GPS app it came installed with kept dropping off when the data connection was lost. Copilot doesn’t need a connection and gives lots of information about POI’s in the vicinity of your location. Very helpful when you are somewhere unfamiliar and looking for somewhere to eat etc. I bought the Roo case for this tablet. It is very sturdy. The tablet itself fits into a case that attaches with Velcro to the portfolio part of the case and can be removed for taking pictures or whatever (camera cutout in the small case that surrounds the tablet). Overall a good purchase and one I hope to use for a long time.

It’s been about a month since I purchased my Schwinn Coronado and I’m loving it. Due to the high price of gas I’m now riding my new Schwinn Coronado 14 miles back and forth to work on a light gravel bike trail (It’s also very comfortable road performing bike). The bike was delivered to me packaged with care and with a total cost of less than $240 for the bike (which included the free shipping) how can you go wrong. The TouchPad is not exactly a full replacement for the iPad since it doesn’t have as many apps, but there are a number of things you can do with the TouchPad that the iPad can not do:

1.) Run multiple apps. The iPad simulates multi-tasking but it really just pauses each app and closes it when you switch to a different app. The WebOS on the TouchPad lets each app continue working in the background so you can be more productive.

1.b) Speaking of multi-tasking, notifications appear as icons at the top of the screen and do not take focus away from whatever you are working on, so you don’t get interrupted every time some notification pops up. On the iPad notifications pop up a dialog box that must be dismissed before you can continue using the tablet.

2.) Searching with “Just Type”. With WebOS you don’t need to think about what app you need to load to look for a piece of data. Want to call a friend? ‘Just type’ their name, as soon as you’ve entered the first few letters you’ll start to see matching contacts. Want to search the web for a new toy? Just start typing it’s name, and then choose ‘Search Google’ or ‘Search Amazon’ and it will perform the search on those websites. I really want to love this product.
Sadly, the table and Samsung service department let me down so badly.

I got my first tab. With in a week, it developed a smudgy oil streak under the screen (see Customer Image I posted). Went back to replace a brand new tab at the store.
Got the second brand new one. The problem started again after 2 weeks.
Contacted Samsung, got the screen replaced (took about a month!!!).
Got it back. Then, after a week, it started again!!!. Contacted Samsung again. They wanted me to send it back to have it fixed. Yes, that will be another month long of waiting!!.
Extremely frustrated!!

If you decided to buy. it’s your own risk. It looks to me that this is a flaw on their design in the first place. How can that be 3 screens all having the same issues. Either I’m so not very lucky or it’s the flaw on this model. I love Samsung products. But not like this. I probably move on to some other brand and sell this one at a lost.

I love this thing. I bought it mainly for my son who is moderately disabled, as he has trouble with balance on a two wheeler, even with training wheels. This is perfect for him. As for riding on inclines, I ride it uphill (small, long hills), though I do have to take frequent breaks, but that’s the fun of it. I’m getting my body back into shape after years of no exercise! When I get off this thing, I’m exhausted, and my legs feel like jello, but OMG…what a workout! The side to side motion trying to get it uphill should give me some rippin’ abs this summer, and my legs should be incredible, as well! I’m loving it and my son is driving me crazy wanting to ride all the time! LOL! It’s a good thing… he’s actually going outside to play!

Improvements could be made on the front wheel, but I think that has more to do with the tire than the bike itself. When the tires wear out, I will get better tires for it, and maybe even have a few improvements added, such as a more comfortable seat (with a bad back, this thing is not great. I think I need a straighter seat with more cushioning), and of course, the better wheels, and maybe see what can be done to make it go a little faster. It’s definitely worth the money to me to have my son begging to go for a ride, than sitting in the house watching tv, and it’s worth it for the workout I’m getting!

This is a good value in a road tandem. It arrived without assembly instructions and I lost some time attempting to use the larger of the two seat posts in the forward seat tube. Don’t make that mistake, the larger seat tube goes in the aft location, the handlebar adapter clamps quite nicely to the smaller seat post. I budgeted several hundred dollars for upgrades to make this bike a fun and useful cross country tandem and it wasn’t necessary. I upgraded the tires and brake pads and have been satisfied with the results. I expected to upgrade the wheels but have discovered that, although heavy, the wheels are aerodynamic and would be fairly expensive to improve. Handlebars are steel and could easily be improved, the cranks and chainwheels are heavy and could be improved at considerable expense.
With road tires the bike is pretty fast. I rode it ten miles at 19 mph by myself. In other words the bike is as fast as my half-bike on flat terrain. Yes, it’s heavy and has cheap components, but you would have to spend a lot more money for a better road tandem.
I would recommend this bike for someone wanting an inexpensive road tandem.

This is a great value, much more expensive on other websites. I was looking for a uni with a massive off-road capable tire and this is it!!! I am pretty good with a unicycle, (offroad and street tricks) but i dont have alot of money being in collage. The only serious problem i had with this unicycle was that after only a few jumps off of curbs and logs and such, the cranks started to bend the axle where the crank is attached and screwed into the unicycle. Now i am about 5’11-6′ and about 175lbs, this shouldnt have happened… I have super-tightened the nuts for the cranks yet they keep coming off after a day of riding. The seat post that comes with it is also adnormaly short though i had a post from my old unicycle to replace it.
Otherwise, its of great value, just MAKE SURE WHEN YOU PUT IT TOGETHER OUT OF THE BOX, YOU HAMMER ON THE CRANKS AND TIGHTEN THEM AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!! or you will regret it.

Im loving it though i can jump about a third higher and twice as far/far down. Very fun!

I build bikes piece by piece a lot, but a friend of mine wanted a particular color scheme for a low dollar amount. This was my obvious choice. It’s a low end bike, but not as low as one would think. Vilano bikes can take a beating. The only thing I can foresee replacing are the bearing cartridge in the cranks because most low enders don’t exactly use the most high quality guts. As far as the frame goes… it’s not heavy at all. All in all I hope that people buy Vilano, although I feel a smaller logo on the bike would make it a bit more mysterious.

Like one of the previous reviewers, I, too, had issues with the handlebars; except even the handlebars were installed backwards. I’m a mechanically-inclined individual, but am still pretty new at putting bikes together. This lead to me having issues with the cheap screws (that are prone to stripping) on the derailleurs.

On the plus-side, the manual is relatively comprehensive, although is jam-packed of information for EVERY bike that Pacific makes.

As far as the ride goes, I don’t completely have the brakes or shifters adjusted, so I won’t speak to their quality (although they weren’t completely terrible), but the bike seat is a bit hard. The bike is also almost too big for me (I’m 5’3″), so short people should probably look elsewhere. You’ll want to adjust the rear shock’s spring depending on your weight, as the stock setting had no give at all for me.

The packaging from the manufacturer was lacking. I’m lucky that my FedEx driver isn’t very abusive to packages, but people that are less fortunate could definitely have problems. The bike arrives with the front end disassembled (which is standard), and is secured to itself with zip ties and absolutely zero foam/paper/etc to hold it in place. There is cardboard wrapped around certain areas of the bike to dull hard points, but this obviously won’t save it from any kind of drop.
