My wife is a middle grades teacher and the copiers at her school are always broken are in use by someone else, so we do all her printing and copying at home – LOTS of printing and copying. I really like the speed and the automatic duplexing. We expect to cut our paper cost by 30-40%. We also create a pdf of each assignment/worksheet to upload to her website so students can get any missed assignments. The scanner – scan to file – option allows you to specify pdf file type and is very fast.

The Automatic Document Feed is excellent with no jams so far even with large documents. We also print hall/bathroom passes on business card stock using the single sheet feeder with no jams. So far we have printed about 5,000 pages and have had no real problems. Setting up the network for sharing the printer was very easy. We expect to print about 5,000 pages per month – well under the 25,000 duty clcle. Our previous MFC 8220 is still being used by a colleague after 3 drum replacements – we just wanted the extra speed and auto duplex this machine provided.

The software provided for scanning is easy to use and very versatile. We haven’t used the fax function yet. So far we are very pleased with the speed, auto duplex and scanning features and have had no driver issues using both XP and Vista.

It is a great machine for someone needing a heavy duty networked duplex capable machine.

Why did I wait so long to buy one of these?? Definitely cleaner teeth with this toothbrush. I have always had a hard time getting to my back molars before this toothbrush. The head on this is smaller than a standard toothbrush, but being automated, you dont have to jam it against the back of your cheekbone to try to get to your rear molars. Came with a spare toothbrush head. I admit that I drink alot of coffee and use tobacco products, and I have noticed significant whiter and cleaner teeth with the same toothpaste.

I love Sonicare electric toothbrushes. My husband and I have used nothing else for ten years. Occasionally we must buy new ones. I thought I was buying two complete full sized toothbrushes, with brushes and chargers. Honestly the pictures and the write up describe one charger. I should have paid more attention. This was my first Sonicare Toothbrush that I bought after reading some of some of the positive reviews here. I was replacing an old Braun that I had for over 10 years. This one seems to have more and faster movements of the brush and it does a better job of cleaning my teeth. You know that feeling after you come out of the dentist’s office for a cleaning where your teeth have that polished, smooth feeling when you run your tongue over them? Well, even after the first time using this toothbrush my teeth felt that way. My old toothbrush never did that. After using it for a few weeks my teeth looked whiter to me. Now I never did a real test, like brushing one half with this toothbrush and one half with the old, but when I look at myself in the mirror, I can see a difference.

I like the timer thingy on this toothbrush. I thought it would be like a bell or a beep, but it’s more like a little pause after each of four 30 second segments. So you do each area of your mouth for 30 seconds and then if you want to do the “whitening” segment, you push the bottom button and it’ll time those segments. This part is a different type of vibration or movement that is supposed to do an even better job of polishing your teeth. I don’t know if it’s this part or just spending enough time on each section, but it works. My teeth feel cleaner and look whiter.

Another thing that I noticed with this toothbrush is that my gums don’t bleed when brushing my teeth anymore. I’ve had that problem for probably the last 30 years, whether I used my old Braun electric toothbrush or whether I brushed my teeth by hand. After the first couple days with this toothbrush it just stopped. I’m not sure if it’s because of the texture of the brush or if it’s just contributes to the health of my gums, but it’s a nice bonus.

The toothbrush is very easy to clean and the brushes snap on and off very easily. It’s lightweight which makes it easy to use and it’s reasonably quiet for a power toothbrush. I’m completely sold on this brand. When I need to replace it at some point, it will be with another Philips Sonicare product. Two thumbs up!

I guess I should have listened to Great Dad and some of the other reviewers who said they did not get the Smart Series 4000 which was advertised as having 3 brush heads and 5 brush modes. Also if I’m not mistaken, the SmartSeries has a digital clock. Of course I don’t know this for sure because what I got was not the SmartSeries.

I received my Oral B electric toothbrush 5 days ago. It came in a sealed box that says SmartSeries 4000 on it. However, the box says it has 2 brush heads and 4 brush modes. And when I looked at the toothbrush itself, it says Triumph Professional Care on it!! I can’t believe they can get away with that. However, after thinking it over I have decided to keep it. I don’t blame Amazon. I know they would gladly refund my money if I wanted to return the item because it wasn’t as expected. But I got it for a good price and I guess I can live without the 3rd brush and the other updates I thought I was getting.

This does not make me happy with Oral B. Even though I like the toothbrush I can’t get over the fact that Oral B would pack the old model in the new box. Isn’t there a law against that? There certainly should be.

 (What’s this?) I also own an Oral-B Pulsonic and a Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite so I am familiar with and used to using an electric toothbrush. Newcomers will probably have an adjustment period but the transitions isn’t that hard. The Oral-B 3000 is a definite step up from a manual toothbrush and falls between my other two brushes. It is more like a dentist’s cleaning brush than the other two and it employs a purely a physical cleaning methodology while the other two brushes rely on sonic technology. The 3000 is a bit more effective than the Pulsonic but the latter is more of a travel toothbrush. Comparatively, the Pulsonic is weaker and the user is instructed to brush as well as let the sonic action take place. The Philips Sonicare HealthyWhite is more powerful than either and the user is just supposed to move it over the surface of the teeth rather than exert force when brushing. I find it to be the most effective.

The Oral-B 3000 is a good brush and it gets my teeth “squeaky clean”. It has good power and a lot of movement of the bristles on the head. If you prefer a longer bristled head as opposed to a round one, then this brush is not for you. But it is very effective in any case. You have to apply more pressure and move the brush more than with a pure sonic brush, but it works. There are 3 cleaning mode and I find the first to be the best. The second is a “gentle” cycle and the third oscillates between slow and fast. Every 30 seconds you get a remind to clean a different tooth area and at two minutes you get a 3 pulse reminder that you’ve done enough brushing. Battery life is good and the brush comes with an initial charge to let you brush once before having to re-charge. The base is rather large with a section for 4 brush heads so it takes up a bit of space on your countertop. The overall brush design is decent but middle of the road quality-wise. It feels more plasticy than my other two electric toothbrushes. The contrasty blue and white colors seem more suited to a kid’s brush, as does the red light that flashes when you press too hard. A neat feature I suppose, if a bit gimmicky.

I like the Oral-B 3000 but at its current price point think there may be better options. You could do worse, but you could also do better.

Update: 09/03/2010 – This has become my go-to brush for a good clean. I like my sonic ones, but this one is more “fun”, though that is hard to quantify. And it does a good job of cleaning. The charge lasts a while too. Some other things I’ve noticed is that it takes more work to clean than my other power brushes. Not terrible, but a bit more time. Also, it is loud. I don’t find it annoying, but if you don’t want to wake someone in the next room while doing your teeth, you probably will want to close the bathroom door.

Based on my dentist’s recommendation, I switched to an electric toothbrush, and ran across this one. I wasn’t disappointed. The Sonicare left my teeth looking very white after just one use, and my teeth just feel cleaner than ever. As a tea drinker, I contend with the stains that tea leaves. After my dentist recommended against using the whitening toothpastes, due to their abrasiveness to gums, I thought I was going to be stuck with healthier gums but stained teeth. Sonicare without whitening toothpaste makes my teeth look better than they did when I was using a regular toothbrush with whitening toothpaste. (I feel like a ditsy, smiling spokesmodel here but I really was impressed.)My only complaint has been getting used to brushing with an electric toothbrush–a problem I suspect I would have with ANY electric toothbrush. You have to get in the habit of putting the Sonicare in your mouth, and closing your lips around the brush BEFORE you turn it on. Otherwise, you wind up with toothpaste decorating your bathroom mirror, your clothes, and pretty much the entire area around your bathroom sink. This isn’t something easy to remember when your half awake and brushing your teeth. My other only complaint (OK, I guess I have two) is that Sonicare turns off after about two minutes, the time it has determined it should take you to brush your teeth. Being a little slower with things, I would rather turn it off when I’M done, not when it thinks I should be done. Apparently this design feature is to avoid over brushing. Since you can turn the Sonicare right back on again, this isn’t a problem.I can’t speak for how long the charge lasts as I have left it on the charging stand when not in use. Apparently, however, the Sonicare is designed to hold a charge for quite a few hours, to allow you to take it with you while traveling, for instance, without having to bring the entire charging stand along.

I bought an Elite 7500 model because that’s what the store had, but I don’t think there were many differences in the 7300 and the 7500. I wish I’d had this toothbrush a year or more ago. Maybe I wouldn’t have the degree of gum disease I do now. I bought my first and only Sonicare model after very high recommendations by my periodontist. After being examined by her the first time in June, I went back after having used the Sonicare consistently in September. The difference in the two exam’s results was phenomenal! The dentist couldn’t stop remarking over it! I had pockets of some degree or another around 80% of my teeth; on the 2nd visit, this had been reduced to about 10%, it was that effective on my teeth AND gums. I love the “massage” feeling while I’m brushing too. There’s been absolutely no mechanical problems with any part of it, or any “cosmetic” flaws, after 4 months of use, still looks brand new! I now have TWO dentists raving about the condition of my teeth! (And my primary dentist is NOT known for his raving.)
