Great carseat, great safety reviews. Very adjustable, very comfortable. My 15 month old son is still able to comfortably sit in it rear facing – (70% height, 20% weight).

Searched high and low for one I love as much as this one. It will fit safely and securely in my 2001 Toyota Camry without latch and will transfer easily into my 2010 Toyota Tundra with latch.

We’ve just started using this carseat for our 19 month old daughter who is 22 lbs and 29 inches. She is our fourth child, so we have a bit of experience with different seats and I like this one better than those that have cost us more money. We also used this car seat front facing for our four year old son and always had an easy time with it. He was older when we bought i for our second car and never used it rear facing though.

Please note that the instructions for this carseat say that your child must be 34 inches to sit facing forward!!! My 19 month old is on the smaller half of the growth chart at 29 inches, but I can’t imagine that any twelve month old (old enough to face forward) is 34 inches tall.

We are using it rear facing, but to get the level line horizontal with our seat, which gives it the recline that other reviewers have complained about (so make sure you check that line!), we had to put the carseat in the middle of the back seat or else have the passenger seat pulled all the way forward in our Dodge Durango SUV. We also had to put part of a swimming noodle under the seat so it would recline enough. It is very snug in there though and installing it was not any different that any other seat we’ve had. Our daughter has plenty of leg room (another complaint that I’ve heard about extended-age rear facing).

Please check to make sure your one year olds who are FORWARD facing meet the height requirement to do so in this carseat. They must be 22 lbs AND 34 inches AND one year old to forward face in this seat!

Bought the Prosport 5 months ago (not from Amazon- out of stock then).
Loved the quality and construction……we have 2 Britax Frontiers already (wifes car & grandparents car) and I needed a seat for mine. Read that this did very well in tests and because of the higher weight limit bought it unseen/tried.
Harness straps are VERY short.
My daughter is now almost 5yr old, 46 lbs and 46 1/2″ tall. The straps have almost no adjustment left if wearing anything more than a sweater.
The weight/height claims appear to be ‘advertising optimism’.
The headrest height adjuster that carries the shoulder strap is already at its maximum, when she adds any torso length the shoulder straps will start to slope down from her shoulder into the seat back, so will be unusable as the straps are supposed to be level with or above shoulder height.
I would like to see the child that is 90 lbs and 50″ tall AND fit this harness !!!!!.
Called Recaro and was promised another harness would be mailed incase mine was defective, never received it or the promised follow up phone call after “we check with our techs’ “…….
Our Britaxs’ even though having lower weight and height limits still have growing room left however. So beware, check fit before buying or be prepared to return.
Also the belt webbing is wider than the slots in the 2 waist latch plates, which then do not slide freely when buckling her in.

We ordered 2 of the Britax Roundabout 55 carseats in smokey pearl, one for each of our vehicles. We have this carseat installed rear-facing in both a 2005 Toyota Camry and a 2005 Chevy Silverado extended cab pickup, and it fits great in both vehicles. In the Camry, the carseat is installed behind the passenger, and there is lots of leg room for the person riding in the passenger seat – the passenger seat is almost all the way back. Our previous carseat was a Graco Snugride, and the Roundabout 55 takes up MUCH less of the passenger’s leg room. In the pickup, we have the carseat installed in the rear center seat. We initially installed it behind the passenger, but rear-facing, this seat was not a good fit – the passenger seat had to be almost all the way forward. However, there is plenty of room for the seat to rear-face in the middle and the seat does not affect the position of the driver or passenger seats at all.

We have been using this carseat for about a week, and so far so good. The seat installed easily using the LATCH system, we have not tried a seatbelt install with this seat yet. The quality of this seat is obvious, especially when compared with our previous seat. The cloth cover is a soft, plush fabric, and the colors are true to what is shown in the picture. The dots on the cream background are a grayish-brown color and beige, and the edging is a medium-brown color. The seat is well padded, and our daughter seems comfortable and happy in it. The velco tabs for holding the harness straps back when not in use are a nice touch. The buckle on the 5-point harness is not any more or less difficult to latch and unlatch than the Graco seat. The harness is much easier to adjust on this seat compared to our previous seat, except (as another reviewer mentioned) that the adjuster strap does get trapped between the carseat and the seat back when rear-facing. However, that is not a big deal to us, since we don’t often adjust the harness straps anyway.

One of the reasons we chose this seat is because it can potentially rear-face to 40 pounds. However, I am almost certain that our daughter will outgrow this seat rear-facing on height well before she reaches 40 pounds. Same thing for forward facing. Right now, our 9 month old is 20.5 pounds and 28.5 inches and the shoulder straps are threaded thru the 2nd set of holes, and is not far from moving up to the 3rd set of holes. However, if we can keep her rear-facing in this seat until she is 2-2.5 years old, and forward facing until she is 4 or so, I will be satisfied.

For our first child, we’ve had at least six or so carseats so far, between our cars, Grandma’s car, and just not liking some models. We now have two Britax Advocate 70 CS’s and, if we could go back, would only have ever purchased these (once past the carrier stage). We looked at a number of different car seats and reviews when picking the various carseats – to be honest, all of the others were not cheap, but certainly lower priced than this carseat. The reason I originally purchased this model was because it was the only carseat that had a small enough base to fit in the back seat of my 2009 Challenger (there’s not a lot of room there). I fell in love with it immediately, though.

The auto-click when the seat is tight enough is really great – always check to make sure, but it’s always been right for me. Next, there’s installation – some seats are a little easier to install with the “pistol-grip” clips that go right on. The Britax is a little more difficult to get around. However, ease-to-fit, the Britax is the best. What I mean by this is that, while installation is just a little bit harder than with some seats, the Britax easily gets to the correct tightness while we’ve had other seats that just always have seemed a little loose – not a feeling you want about a carseat.

The best part of the Britax is really the structure itself. My son got a little sick in the car once, which led to a quick rush home and throwing of the carseat out of my very-loved car, with my significantly-more-loved son being cleaned up and comforted at the same time. Once he was in new clothes and back to running around playing, I set to the chore of cleaning the seat – I was not looking forward to this. However, it turned out to be a very simply job and, after washing and soaping everything several times, I then became worried that everything might not go back to being as soft as it was. However, I was wrong – all the muck came out and all of the felt hung up and dried out just fine – word of warning, don’t leave the manual in the carseat pocket while cleaning it… it leads to no longer having a manual (available online, though).

Really, the only downside to this carseat is the price, but, as I mentioned, it’s well worth it.

Britax is a great company for car seats and the Boulevard 70 CS is a great option for those with limited space in the backseat. This car seat actually fits better rearfacing in the backseat of my Gen II Prius than the Flex Loc base and Infant seat from Baby Trend. The photo for the cowmooflage color doesn’t really show very well, but the “cream” part of the cover is laced with a tan design that I can only assume is meant to mimic cracks that might show up in genuine cow-hide. It’s a great seat and a cute design! A+

First, I want to say that I’m a fan of Britax products and believe they are the safest on the market. At the same time I ordered this Chaperone, I also ordered an Advocate 70 CS. Price is not a variable when it comes to the safety of my kiddo.

Now, this product is downright unsafe. After receiving the Chaperone tonight and installing it, I came back to read what the other 1-2 star reviewers stated. They are all correct. Whoever gave this product anything higher than 3 stars has no clue what this car seat will experience during a crash.

Here’s the skinny on the issue. When rear facing, the rear plastic that contacts the seat (the part to which the “Anti-Rebound Bar” is connected) is far narrower than most car seats. Regardless of securing method, be it with a 3-point lap harness or LATCH mechanism, there is NO WAY to secure the belt tight enough that the car seat does not slide left to right when forced. As hard as I could pull (at least 100lbs of force), I could not get either the seat belt or LATCH strap to be tight enough that I felt the car seat would be safe in an accident.

The Britax manual states that the seat should be tight enough that it cannot move but an inch. By using the front of the car seat, I could EASILY get this seat to move 8-12 inches (remember the six simple machines in science class? The front of the seat becomes the lever beam and the rear of the seat becomes the fulcrum to provide leverage).

Moreover, if you watch the video on Britax’s website, you will notice that the gentleman installing the seat barely pushes the seat left to right to test it’s movement. I don’t care about what happens when you poke the seat, I care about what happens when 30+ G’s of force are exhibited on it in an accident.

I should have trusted the Consumer Reports rating of 57/100 (the lowest was 55) and the FAIR “fit to vehicle ratings”.

This product should be recalled.

Thankfully Amazon is fantastic and is even paying for the return shipping!

After being disappointed by Graco’s quality of car seats, I decided to try Britax! I recently bought a Britax Frontier 85 and was SO excited about the seat. My son is 10 months old and is outgrowing his Graco infant seat. I didn’t realize however that the seat is only good for children at least 2 years old. So with MUCH regret I had to return the Frontier! I ordered the Britax Marathon 70 and absolutely love it (as much as I did the Frontier 85).

It is so nicely cushioned and yet spacious enough. I’m 5’1 and 105 lbs and I can sit in the seat (not harnessed of course) with the headrest at its highest. My son’s back is not curved in anyway and his head is not pushed forward at all. He looks so comfortable, I want to be him in this seat! I love that I will be able to rear-face my son for longer and then forward-face him when he’s ready. The crotch strap is GREAT! Moving it is a breeze — just slide it over (nothing to disassemble). It has 2 position, but the furthest one is pretty far (8 inches from the back of the seat). The Graco Nautilus’ furthest crotch strap measured at 6.5 inches from the back… one of the main reasons I returned it cause my son would have no room to grow into and would inevitably be sitting on the crotch strap before he’s even 2 years old. The harness straps are so easy and FAST to adjust!!! You just move the headrest up and down! No need to unfasten the harness and re-thread it through the loops. The recline is a REAL recline (3 positions). Graco Nautilus’ recline was like half an inch difference. Oh, and the steel frame is excellent (versus a heavy-duty plastic). I think all car seats should be made of a steel frame. Which makes this car seat, though very expensive, worth the money in every way!!! And I’m pretty frugal. From now on, every car seat I buy will be a Britax!

I bought this carseat for my 9 month old. When I installed it into my car with the latch system first it wouldn’t tighten all the way. There was no slack side to side but when you would push on the headrest the whole car seat would flip backwards! This is obviously in the rear facing mode. I thought maybe the car seat just wasn’t capatable with my latch system in my car so I tried the seat belt method. Same thing occured! I am sure that this car seat would work fine in the forward facing mode, but that’s it. Also the headresy was a bit bulky. It made my daughter’s head lean forward too much. I returned this item propmtly and got a car seat that had an attached base and the carseat just reclined for the rear facing mode. My new car seat works way better and was $20 cheaper. I suggest that if you are shopping for a convertible carseat then make sure it has some sort of base to it. I hope this helps. This problem seems EXTREMLEY dangerous!
